If you are looking for a real beginner to fairly advanced bass guitar course online that will also teach you music theory and reading music you may want to check this course out. There are a few courses available online but nothing that is as in-depth as this course.
It's important to note that no "do it yourself" course is going to be able to replace having a personal teacher work with you.
If that's not an option and you are self motivated and work well on your own this course may be a great way to get started playing bass. It has to be something you are willing to put a lot of hard work into!
Learning any instrument takes a lot of time and practice. Anyone can get their hands on a bass guitar, figure out a few bass lines or learn a song from tablature on the Internet. If your really serious about learning, I recommend you go about it the right way. This is the best course I have seen available anywhere for taking someone from beginner to the intermediate/advanced level.
Considering private lessons can cost as much as $50 an hour. ( Probably closer to $100 with somebody like Ray Vogt) this DVD course is a great way to start learning and save a ton of cash on private instruction. Many students lay out a bunch of money on private instruction only to give up a few months into it because they think it's going to be easy.
One thing I personally like about instruction courses on DVD is that you can learn at your own pace. If you need to go over something again you can just rewind or put in a DVD from an earlier lesson. Your not wasting money going over the same thing with a private instructor while the clock is ticking.
If you already have some experience playing bass guitar, don't worry this course teaches many advanced techniques and gets into some very cool technical areas beyond the basics of the first few lessons.
Every DVD is full of material. The video is shot in widescreen HD and the audio and video are both very high quality.
