Learn & Master Guitar Review:

Extremely High Quality Video
Most In-Depth Course: 10 DVDs, 5 CDs, & 107 Page Lesson Book
Expensive, But Well Worth The Extra Money

We would first like to thank Legacy Learning Systems for sending us a copy of Learn and Master Guitar for the purpose of this review.

The product arrived in less then a week and was very nicely packaged. You can tell right away that the people at Legacy Learning Systems set out to put together one of the best guitar lesson DVD courses available. The look and feel of this guitar course is impressive right out of the box.

Everything is nicely organized into a 3 ring binder. The DVDs, Jam Along CDs and 107 page lesson book fit nicely into the binder and helps keep everything organized. The course is broken down into twenty sessions. Each session builds upon the previous one, so it's designed for you to follow the sessions in order. Both guitar and musical concepts are introduced in a simple and logical sequence.

In our opinion anyone serious about learning guitar should check out this course. We haven't found anything else that compares to Learn & Master Guitar. If you do buy this course please come back to this site and let us know what you think!

What you get:
107 page detailed guitar lesson book.
10 full-length DVD's (over 20 hours of video), organized into 20 sessions.
110 "active" jam tracks (5 full CDs), including features for turning guitar tracks on, partial on or off, as well as slow, medium or fast play features.
Access to members only forum online.
Lots of supplemental files online (songs, music, guitar tabs, tips and tricks)

Learn & Master Guitar DVD Course

Session 16 Advanced Strumming - Going Beyond the Basics

Session 19 Soloing
Session 20 All the Chords You Need to Know

Steve Krenz is the teacher of the course and he does a great job. The thing we like best about this program is that you can work at your own pace. If you need to go over something again the DVD's make it very easy to return to a previous lesson or pause the lesson while you work. The most impressive thing we found about Learn & Master Guitar is the fact that it really teaches music theory! Many courses show you a few chords and some tablature and that's about it. The Learn and Master Guitar Course really takes time to teach students to read music as well as understanding scales, chords, playing style and soloing.

Jam Along CD's
One thing that sets the Learn & Master Guitar Course apart from other guitar lesson courses is the addition of the Jam Along CD's. The course comes with 5 full CD's of backing tracks for you to practice with. We loved playing along with the Jam-Along CDs. There are "active" tracks that enable you to play the tracks with the lead guitar track turned on, off, or at partial volume. This is very cool!

We really like turning the lead guitar track off and then practicing solos with the band on the Jam Tracks. We should mention that the band used for the Jam Tracks is excellent! Legacy Learning Systems spared no expense on hiring professional players to lay down these tracks. The tracks for beginner songs enable playing each song at slow, medium or fast pace and this is very helpful if you are a beginner.

The only downside of Learn & Master Guitar is that it is pretty pricey. The full course goes for $299 but you can often find it on sale for $199.

Return Policy: If you are not satisfied with it for any reason, simply return it within sixty days for a full refund of the purchase price.

Buying Tip: Legacy Learning Systems is having a sale. They are selling
Learn & Master Guitar Expanded Edition Today for Only $199. ($100 savings)

Just Updated!

Legacy Learning Systems is now offering a new expanded version of Learn and Master Guitar. They now offer an expanded edition that includes 20 DVD's and they are having a sale on it this week. Expanded Edition $299 on Sale Now for Only $199!

Here are the major differences between the original version and the newly expanded version:

What's the same?  Everything that was included in the original version is also included in the expanded version.  The same binder, the same lesson book, the same Jam-Along CDs, even the same 10 original DVDs.

What's new?  They have added 10 more DVDs.  They include additional songs, exercises, and workshops for each of the original 20 sessions that were included with the original version.  Steve Krenz goes into more detail on each session's material and offers additional tips and tricks, and adds plenty of personal encouragement.  They have also included a "You're Ready To Move On When..." segment for each session so that you'll know when you have the skills you need to proceed to the next part of the course.

How does it cost?  The new expanded version has been priced only $50 higher than the original version.  That's only $5 per DVD and twice as much content.

After doing a lot of research online for a guitar course I could take at home I decided on purchasing Learn and Master Guitar. For anyone out there that wants to learn to play the guitar I would definitely recommend this dvd course. It's easy to follow and lot's of fun. I wasn't a total beginner when I started with it. I knew a few chords and maybe 5 or 6 songs but now I feel like I am actually learning how to play and read music. Like anything worth learning it takes a lot of practice but my playing has improved and I understand so much more now about what I am playing. The course doesn't go too deep into music theory but I'm not ready for that yet anyway. Feel free to post my review to your website.

I love having the DVD to watch and follow along in the book. Lots of practicing to do before going to the next lesson. Well worth the money!

I get a kick out of the reviewer who said "It's not easy to learn guitar by watching an instructor on tv".  What did you think you were getting with a DVD course?  Private lessons are not an option for everyone. Comparing a DVD course to live instruction is pointless.  This is a very good course. You can move at your own pace and it's good for any age.  The bottom line with learning ANY instrument is PRACTICE, regardless of how you are learning.  There are no shortcuts.  The more you practice the better you will get.

I just purchased this as a gift for my nephew recently and he is absolutely thrilled with it. He is 16 and has been learning guitar on his own through books, this seemed like the perfect gift so I bought it. It was shipped quickly and arrived in time for Christmas. I will have my nephew post a better review once he has time to get through some of the material. Good company to deal with.

That's a great way to take care of your customers and the additional material is well worth it. I would have paid $100 for the additional dvd's so kudu's to legacy learning for being loyal to their current customers!

This is a very well put together guitar course for beginners to intermediate players. Maybe not the best course for advanced playing styles but at the price I paid for it I have learned quite a bit. I am an experienced player that purchased the course to help me learn more about reading music and music theory in general. The course doesn't go as deep into music theory as I would have liked but overall I am very happy with it.

This isn't some simple video course that only teaches you a few things about the guitar. It is a full course on learning to play guitar. I fully believe once I finish the course that I will be able to actually say I play guitar. It's just going to take a while to get through it all. Thumbs up for learn and master guitar.

Learn & Master Guitar Review:

I am a singer/songwriter and I have been singing and playing piano for about 12 years. I have been playing around with the guitar for about 2 years but I really only know a few chords to some of the songs I have written. A guitar player that was in my band started to teach me guitar last year and I was really starting to get the hang of it but I stopped playing and hadn't picked up the guitar again until about 4 months ago. My boyfriend bought me this course as a gift and I really love it. Steve Krenz is the teacher on the DVD's and I really like the way this course is put together. Even though I already read music I have still benefited a lot from the lessons and also I want to mention that the members forum is very helpful. I have met 2 people that are really nice and have given me a lot of great advice. This course includes 10 dvd's and covers many styles of playing. When I got this course I could play most major chords on the guitar but it's really helped me to identify chord shapes and I am starting to be able to relate it to the piano much better. Anyway I think it's a great course and If you have never played an instrument it's probably really great as Steve take the time to teach actual music theory as well as reading music notation and guitar tablature. Thanks for reading!

I bought this DVD set after reading many reviews including the reviews from this site. I got it two weeks ago and I love it. It really does live up to all the hype I read. The only thing I don't like about it is the book that comes with it is a pain in the butt. It is hard bound and it doesn't lay open very easily. This can make it frustrating when trying to follow along with the video lessons. Other then that I don't have really anything bad to say about it. The instructor takes things at a nice pace and is very easy to understand and follow. I am only on session 3 so far so I can't give much more of a review then this for now.

I bought this course and while it is very well put together don't believe the hype. Learning to play guitar takes years of practice and dedication and your not going to be able to do it by sitting in front of a tv screen listening to an instructor that you can't talk to. If you really want to learn guitar take lessons from an instructor that will work with you and can help you with your specific needs.

After reading a few reviews about the Learn and Master Guitar DVD Course I decided to give it a try. I got it on sale for $199. It arrived about 4 days later as expected. I am only on session 4 and I have had the DVD's now for about 2 months. This is a very thorough course and really does live up to the positive reviews that I had read about the course. It takes practice and a lot of patience to learn any instrument. I played trumpet in high school when I was younger and had forgotten how much work it can be.

The course makes learning fun, and for anyone who wants to take lessons at home I would highly recommend it. Don't waste your time learning only tablature or reading chord charts. Learn to play the right way. I guess that's what I like most about this course. It really teaches you in a way you would expect from a guitar lesson teacher or school.
